Car accident injures Katy child in crosswalk

Throughout time, roadways change in Katy and neighboring cities. New signs, new traffic signals and the occasional detour are just a few of the changes that can cause auto accidents when drivers are not paying attention to the road. Changes made around school grounds and play grounds can be especially dangerous as children often congregate in these areas. On Dec. 2, a Kilpatrick Elementary student was hit by a car while crossing the street in such an area. Because of the incident, school district officials are now asking that drivers be more careful and that they be aware of the new traffic lights in the area. According to school officials, the student did not sustain life-threatening injuries in the auto accident incident. They did not say what the child's injuries were at the time.

Retired NFL players file brain injury complaint

Football fans in Texas may be interested to learn that three former professional football players have filed a complained against the National Football League. The retired players, who have played on teams all across the country, are suing for personal injury damages as well as to establish a program for monitoring brain injuries. Claims like these were filed earlier this year in federal court in Philadelphia and in state court in Los Angeles.

'No will in Texas' to ban cellphone use and driving, lawmakers say

Four years ago, a Baylor University student was driving the rural roads of Texas, on her way to Waco for Thanksgiving. Sadly, she never made it. She was hit and killed suddenly by a driver who had been texting and talking on a cellphone just before the fatal car accident. While her family was awarded compensation for their loss, they will never get their loved one back.

Truck accident near Katy Mills kills one, injures two others

When a truck accident occurs in the Houston area, it is not always immediately clear exactly what happened. Part of the reason is that the destruction caused, particularly in the case of a tractor-trailer colliding with another vehicle, is often disastrous.
