Woman killed by brother: negligence involved?

Sometimes accidents can happen that appear to be nothing but a tragedy. However, sometimes negligence can play a part in an accident, and people can become involved in tragic circumstances. Such is the case in a tragedy that befell a Texas family recently. Negligence may have contributed to the death of a Texas woman who was shot at a Houston home.

The young woman was standing in the driveway of the home and her brother was entering into the home while also holding a pistol. The pistol fell out of its holster where it dropped to the ground and discharged a bullet that struck his sister, killing her instantly.

The man and another brother were taken into custody to be questioned by authorities. Right now the police are treating the incident as a tragic accident but are still interviewing people involved in the incident. The woman's father was devastated, claiming he had just spoken to her on the phone.

There have been no charges in this Texas accident but the investigation is ongoing. Right now the woman's father is considering what happened to be an accident but other family members may have more questions about what exactly caused the man to drop his weapon and why he may have been holding a loaded pistol in the first place. The family may wish to stay involved in the police investigation because the results could point to potential negligence. However, even without the report, the family may possibly have a legal claim against the woman's brother.
