Witness disputes cause of Texas car accident

A car accident at a Texas intersection caused injuries serious enough to warrant hospitalization for two people. The accident occurred in the middle of the night at an intersection in Pasadena. Authorities believe the car accident resulted when a maroon pickup truck traveling eastbound failed to stop at a red light.

The eastbound truck crashed into a black pickup truck, which resulted in one person in that vehicle requiring airlift to the hospital by Life Flight. Another person in that vehicle also sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Police stated that the driver who ran the red light will be required to undergo testing to determine if alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

A witness disputes claims by authorities that the maroon truck failed to stop at the light. He claims he stopped and rendered aid directly after the crash. However, he claims that it was the black truck that actually ran the light. An accident investigation is still in progress.

Any time an accident occurs at such a late hour, there may be no witness testimony available, requiring the authorities to rely solely on investigation of the crash scene to determine exactly what happened. However, in this Texas car accident, a witness on the scene disputed what authorities believe actually happened. As such, the results of the investigation will be even more important, especially if one of the drivers attempts to level a civil claim against the other. The accident report, along with testimony by the witness could potentially bolster claims of negligence made in a civil court which could support a party's pursuit of a monetary judgment against the other.
