Icy roadways lead to multiple car accidents in Central Texas

When people think about Texas winters, they may not always think about ice and snow. However, from time to time weather conditions in central Texas can deteriorate causing winter weather. This winter in particular, has been difficult on many Texas residents. A recent ice storm made traveling dangerous for people in and around Austin and lead to numerous car crashes.

According to reports, EMS crews in and around Austin reported significant increases in the number of accidents during a recent storm. In fact, 155 car accidents occurred in the region. At one point, police say that they had to respond to 40 accidents an hour.

One of the accidents that occurred involved a school bus. In this accident, a collision caused the bus to hit a guard rail. At the time of this accident, seven students were on board. In another accident, 20 cars collided near U.S. 183 around 6:15 a.m. In addition to these collisions, three pin-ins were reported by the EMS and seven rollover accidents. Some of these accidents involved injuries to those inside the cars.

Car accident victims can suffer serious injuries as a result of the crash. These injuries can take months to heal and cost huge amounts of money.

While some of these accidents and the subsequent injuries may be unavoidable, others are likely caused because of a negligent driver. When road conditions are poor, drivers need to take extra precautions to keep themselves and those around them safe. When drivers drive too fast for the conditions or are distracted, they may unnecessarily cause harm to those around them.

These negligent drivers can be held financially responsible for the damage they cause through a personal injury suit. In a lawsuit, car accident victims can obtain just compensation for the injuries they have suffered.
