Two dead after dump truck hits cars on Texas road

The destructive nature of large trucks makes them a hazard to other drivers on the roadways - especially when the drivers do not pay enough attention to the road. Things like concrete barriers, guardrails and other safety measure may be no match for a truck, which has massive power, speed and size. Therefore, truck accidents can be particularly devastating.

Two people are dead following a recent truck accident in Texas. In this case, reports say that a dump truck was traveling northbound on I-635. At some point, the driver of the truck seems to have lost control over the vehicle and crashed through the center barrier. As a result, the dump truck hit two cars - including a pickup truck - that had been traveling northbound on the road.

The driver of the dump truck and the driver of one of the cars hit by the dump truck both died in the collision. There is no report about the condition of the other driver, or any passengers, involved in this accident. The roadway was shut down for three hours while the police investigated the accident. At this point, it is unclear why the truck driver lost control over the truck.

However, many factors can come into play to cause a truck accident. Poor truck maintenance, truck driver fatigue and defective auto parts can all play a role in causing an accident. Truck drivers have been known to violate federal trucking regulations that have been set in place to help keep others safe on the roads.

In cases where negligence on behalf of the truck driver or the truck company caused the accident, truck accident victims may have a personal injury claim. In a personal injury or wrongful death suit, those injured by the negligence of a truck driver can receive compensation to help cover the financial losses suffered as a result of the accident.
