Texas blogger killed by drunk driver

A popular Texas blogger was recently killed by a drunk driver. The 32-year-old man was known not only for his many Twitter followers and blog, but for his abhorrence of drunk driving. Family and friends said the man would often offer his couch to friends to keep them off the roadways after drinking.

Unfortunately, these actions could not save the man. According to reports, he was hit by a car as he was walking home around 1:15 a.m. Police say the man stepped off a sidewalk near a fast food restaurant when he was hit by a drunk driver in a car that was turning out of the restaurant's parking lot.

Following the accident, the driver stopped and waited for authorities. However, police found that the 40-year-old driver had a blood alcohol content of .102 percent at the time of the accident. This man has since been charged with drunk driving related charges.

Furthermore, as police investigated the fatal drunk driving accident, another drunk driver drove through the crime scene. The area had been barricaded off and was well lit. This driver was also arrested after narrowly missing investigators that were on the scene.

Drunk driving accidents are often tragic and result in serious injuries and death, as can be seen in this case. These accidents are completely preventable, if people take the right precautions. Public transportation, taxis and other means should always be used as transportation after someone has been driving.

When drunk drivers get behind the wheel, they need to be held accountable for the damage they cause. A personal injury or wrongful death suit can help victims and their families following a drunk driving accident. While a civil suit cannot take away the emotional pain and trauma of an accident caused by a drunk driver, it can help victims recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and other costs that are important to their recovery.
