Speeding remains a leading cause of car accident fatalities

In recent years a great deal of media attention has been given to the dangers of drunk driving and distracted driving. Yet one of the leading causes of fatal car accidents should be very familiar to Texas motorists: speeding. According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, speeding is a significant factor in about one-third of all car accident fatalities.

Texas speed limits are too high for most semi truck tires

A recent investigation by the Associated Press contains some alarming news for Texas motorists. The reporters found that although tires on most tractor-trailer trucks are not designed for safe use above 75 mph, in recent years 14 states have increased truck speed limits on rural interstates to 75 mph or higher.

What are some factors that can cause a semi truck accident?

Despite an array of state and federal trucking regulations, serious accidents involving heavy trucks continue to occur on Texas roads and highways. A semi truck accident can happen for any number of reasons. These reasons can be grouped into three main categories: equipment failure, truck driver negligence and truck company policies.

Texas man on motorcycle dies in collision with passenger car

Motorcyclists are at an immediate safety disadvantage. Every vehicle other than the motorcycle is larger which, according to physics, does not bode well for the motorcyclist or passengers. People ride motorcycles because they enjoy it and because it allows a sense of freedom that cannot be replicated with other types of vehicles. However, a motorcyclist on Texas roads recently passed away as a result of the injuries he suffered when he was involved in a motorcycle accident with a passenger vehicle.

Who to blame for my truck accident injuries and how do I recover?

Semi-trucks, tractor-trailers and 18-wheelers are each a type of large commercial vehicle that can potentially cause catastrophe on Texas roads. When a regular passenger vehicle comes in contact with a large truck, such as these, it can mean serious injury or even death for the passengers and driver. Sometimes these accidents are due to negligence or errors on behalf of the trucking company or the driver. If this is the case the injured should seek compensation for their injuries or wrongful death.
